Sea ice edge comparison

In order to make a comparative statement about the change in the sea ice concentration in different regions for different months and years, the differences of the ice edges are shown on a map. For this purpose, the monthly mean position of the ice edge (<15% sea ice concentration) for the respective month of the year can be calculated from the data of the sea ice concentration of the University of Bremen (Institute of Environmental Physics). Differences can then be queried for the long-term average (from 2003 to 2014) or for a monthly mean of the same month of any year. Thus, regions with a sea ice gain (blue) and a sea ice take-off (red) become clearly visible.
